Press Release- Horse Race and Cultural Program organized to Celebrate 55th Anniversary of Establishment of Nepal- Spain Bilateral Relations

स्पेनस्थित नेपाली राजदूतावासले १३ मे २०२३ का दिन म्याड्रिडको Hipódromo de la Zarzuela मा घोडा दौड सहितको एक सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमको आयोजना गरेको छ।उक्त कार्यक्रम नेपाल र स्पेनबीच कूटनीतिक सम्बन्ध स्थापना भएको ५५ औं वार्षिकोत्सव, सन् २०२६ सम्ममा स्पेनबाट प्रत्येक वर्ष कम्तिमा एक लाख पर्यटक नेपाल पठाउनेलक्ष्य अनुरुप पर्यटन प्रवर्द्धन गर्ने तथा जलवायु परिवर्तनले नेपालका हिमाल तथा हिमनदीहरूमा पुर्याएको असरहरुबारे सचेतना जगाउने उद्देश्यका साथ आयोजना गरिएको थियो।
महामहिम राजदूत डा. शर्मिला पराजुली ढकालज्यूद्वारा पानसको दिप प्रज्वलन गरी औपचारिक कार्यक्रम सुरु गरिएकोमा त्यसपश्चात स्पेन र नेपालको राष्ट्रिय गान बजाइएको थियो।राष्ट्रिय गानपश्चात स्पेनको परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयको उत्तर अमेरिका, पूर्वी युरोप, एसिया र प्रशान्त क्षेत्रका महानिर्देशक महामहिम खाभियर सालिडोले नेपाल-स्पेनको सम्बन्धको विभिन्न आयामहरुमा आफ्नो मन्तव्य राख्नुभएको थियो। उहाँले दुई देशबीचको सम्बन्ध पर्यटन, संस्कृति, ग्यास्ट्रोनोमी, उर्जा लगायतका क्षेत्रमा थप प्रगाढ बनाउनुपर्नेमा जोड दिनुभएको थियो। त्यसपश्चात महामहिम राजदूत डा. पराजुलीज्यूको सम्बोधन रहेकोमा उहाँले कार्यक्रममा सबैलाई स्वागत गर्दै दुई देशबीचको सम्बन्ध साझा मूल्यमान्यता, सांस्कृतिक आदानप्रदान र विभिन्न क्षेत्रमा सहयोगात्मक प्रयासहरूमा आधारित रहेकोमा आगामी दिनहरुमा थप प्रगाढ बनाउँदै लैजाने प्रतिवद्धता व्यक्त गर्नुभएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा महामहिम राजदूत डा. पराजुलीज्यूले कविता वाचनमार्फत उत्प्रेरित समेत गर्नुभयो।सोही अवसरमा एक प्रसिद्ध पर्वतारोही एड्रियाना ब्राउनलीपनि कार्यक्रममा आफ्नो मन्तव्य राखी जलवायु परिवर्तनले नेपालका हिमशिखरहरु र स्थानीयहरूमा पारेको प्रभावहरुमाथि प्रकाश पार्नुभयो। त्यसपश्चात नेपाली र स्पेनिस गीतमा अर्केस्ट्रा प्रस्तुत गरिएको थियो।
कार्यक्रममा आठ वटा घोडाहरुलाई विश्वको सर्वोच्च शिखर सगरमाथासहित नेपालका आठवटा अग्ला हिमशिखरहरुको नाममा प्रदर्शनी राखी प्रत्येक हिमशिखरको संक्षिप्त विवरण प्रस्तुत गरिएको थियो। अन्नपूर्ण नामको घोडाले दौड जितेपछि महामहिम राजदूत डा. पराजुलीज्यूले विजेतालाई भगवान बुद्धको मूर्त र अन्य जोकीलाई स्मृति चिन्ह प्रदान गर्नुभयो।
कार्यक्रमको साँस्कृतिक खण्डमा नेपाल र स्पेनका विविध जातजाति र परम्पराहरुको प्रस्तुती गरिएको थियो। कार्यक्रमको साँस्कृतिक भाग स्पेनिस समुहद्वारा नेपाली गीत ‘कुटुमा कुट’ र ‘मै छोरी सुन्दरी’ तथा फ्लामेन्कोमा नृत्यबाट सुरु गरिएको थियो। त्यसपश्चात कार्यक्रममा श्री अजय लोप्चनद्वारा मञ्जुश्री नृत्य प्रस्तुत गरिएको थियो। सोही अवसरमा सबै जातजाति, वर्ग र क्षेत्रको प्रतिनिधित्व हुने गरी विभिन्न नेपाली भेषभुषामा आएका प्रवासी नेपालीहरूद्वारा सामूहिक तथा व्यक्तिगत प्रस्तुतिहरु गरिएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा फेसन शो पनि राखिएको जसमा मोडलहरुद्वारा विभिन्न नेपाली हस्तकला तथा कपडाहरु प्रदर्शन गरिएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा नेपाली गायक रुपक डोटेल र स्पेनिस गायिका एन्ड्रियाको पनि प्रस्तुती रहेको थियो । गायनपछि कार्यक्रममा डीजेद्वारा विभिन्न नेपाली र स्पेनिस गीतहरू बजाइएको थियो। मोनिका होयोस र सन्तोष अर्यालद्वारा कार्यक्रम संचालन गरिएको थियो। उक्त कार्यक्रममा सेलरोटी, आलुदम तथा पकौडा लगायतका विभिन्न नेपाली परिकारहरु राखिएको थियो।
उक्त कार्यक्रममा स्पेनका लागि आवासिय राजदूतहरु, कूटनीतिज्ञहरु, स्पेनको परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयका पदाधिकारीहरु, भ्लगर, प्रभावशाली व्यावसायीहरु, गैरआवासीय नेपालीहरु, कलाकार, सञ्चारकर्मी, विश्वविद्यालयका प्राध्यापक तथा विद्यार्थीहरु, स्पेनका विभिन्न आयामका व्यक्तिहरुसहित करिब तीन हजार जनाको सहभागिता रहेको थियो। कार्यक्रमलाई नेपाल पर्यटन बोर्ड र स्पेन तथा युरोपियन युनियनमा विभिन्न क्षेत्रमा रहेका नेपालीहरुको सहकार्य रहेको थियो। कार्यक्रममा विश्वविद्यालय र स्पेनमा रहेका नेपालीहरु गरी करिव ८० भोलुन्टर्सको संलग्नता रहेका र उक्त कार्यक्रमलाई सुचारु रूपमा सञ्चालन गर्न महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रहेको थियो।
साथै, यस प्रकारको कार्यक्रम स्पेनमा प्रथम पटक गरिएकोमा कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित अतिथिहरुले धन्यवाद दिदैँ यस कार्यक्रमले उहाँहरुलाई नेपालको कला, संस्कृति, भेषभुषा तथा खानपानसम्बन्धी जिज्ञास जगाएको र नेपाल जानका लागि थप उत्प्रेरित गरेको भनी जनाएका थिए।

The Embassy of Nepal in Spain organized a Cultural Program, including a horse race, at Hipódromo de la Zarzuela, Madrid on 13 MAY 2023. The event was organized to mark the 55th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Spain, to promote tourism and culture of Nepal in line with the objective of sending at least hundred thousand tourist per year from Spain to Nepal by 2026, and to create awareness regarding impact of climate change on our mountains and glaciers.
The formal program started with the lightening of ‘Panas’ by Her Excellency
Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, followed by the national anthems of Spain and Nepal. After the national anthem, His Excellency Mr. Javier Salido, Director General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Pacific of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain, addressed the audience in which he highlighted the strengths of Nepal-Spain relationship. He expressed his desire to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries in tourism, culture, and gastronomy among others. Then Ambassador Dr. Parajuli addressed the audience in which she welcomed everyone at the event, and stressed that the event was a testament to the enduring partnership that existed between two countries, characterized by shared values, cultural exchange, and collaborative efforts in various fields. Ambassador Dr. Parajuli also recited a poem at the event. Ms. Adriana Brownlee, a famous mountaineer, also spoke at the event in which she urged for immediate action against the impacts of climate change on the mountains and the locals. This was followed with an Orchestra performance on Nepali and Spanish songs.
The event also had showcase of eight horses named after the eight highest mountains of Nepal including the Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world followed by a brief description of each mountain. After the showcase, the horse race started, and the horse named after Annapurna won the race. Then, Lord Buddha’s statute was awarded to the winner by Ambassador Dr. Parajuli including the ‘Token of Love’ awarded to each jockey for their participation.
The cultural section of the event was a celebration of the diverse ethnicities and traditions of Nepal and Spain. The cultural part of the program started with a dance from Spanish group on Nepali song ‘Kutu ma Kutu’ and ‘Mai chori sundari’, and Flamenco. The event had a Manjushree dance performed by Mr. Ajay Lopchan which was then followed with a group performance and individual performances from the Nepali Diaspora, who were in different Nepali attires representing all sections, region
and community of Nepal. The event also had a fashion show in which the models showcased different Nepali handicrafts and textiles followed. The event also featured performance of both Nepali Singer Mr. Rupak Dotel and Spanish Singer Ms. Andrea. After the singing performance, the DJ at the event played different Nepali and Spanish songs. Ms. Monica Hoyos and Mr. Santosh Aryal were the moderator at the event. The event served different Nepali Cushines including ‘Selroti’ and ‘Pakauda’.
The event was attended by around 3000 people including Ambassadors accredited to Spain, diplomatic corps, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain, vloggers, influencers, business houses among others, Nepali Diaspora, artists, Media Personnel, University’s Professors and Students, Spanish people, and other distinguished guest from diverse arrays of fields. The event was supported by Nepal Tourism Board and Nepali Diaspora in Spain and European Union. The event had 80 volunteers from Universities and Nepali Diaspora who were instrumental in smooth conduction of the program.
The program was appreciated by all the attendees present at the event, as this was a first of its kind program done in Spain. The attendees expressed their gratitude towards the Embassy and shared their desire to visit Nepal to know more about the culture, traditions, art, music and gastronomy of Nepal.
