Embassy of Nepal in Spain Celebrates National Day and Constitution Day with Grand Reception in Madrid, Sept 2022

 The Embassy of Nepal in Spain hosted a grand reception in Madrid on the occasion of the National Day and the Constitution Day of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on 19 SEP 2022.

The program commenced with the national anthems of the kingdom of Spain and Nepal followed by the welcome speech of Her Excellency Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal to Spain. H.E. Dhakal highlighted the significance of long and continuous struggle of Nepali people for democracy, and their contribution in the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal in 2015. She reflected on the excellent bilateral relations between Nepal and Spain, and hoped to further strengthen the relations between the two countries during her tenure with major focus on trade, tourism, sports, education, agriculture and culture. She thanked the Government of Spain for being one of the earliest members of European Union to send in-kind humanitarian assistance to Nepal during the testing times of COVID-19.

After the speech, H.E. Dhakal, Mr. Bimal Dhakal, and officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC) of the Kingdom of Spain and United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) jointly cut the ceremonial cake. The event was followed by the musical performance from renowned Nepali Singer Mr. Krishna Kafle who sang different Nepali song including- ‘Jaha Chan Buddha Ka Aankha’, and from renowned Bansuri flute player Mr. Binod Katuwal who played ‘Bansuri’ tune on a Nepali song.

In addition to the culture performances, the Embassy also promoted Nepal’s tourism and culture through videos provided by Nepal Tourism Board. The videos were played throughout the program inside the reception hall. Furthermore, Nepali handicrafts products were displayed at the reception.

The Embassy served Nepali Momo’s including other Nepali cuisines during the event.

The event was attended by more than 150 guests including Ambassadors, Consuls General, Officials from the MAEC and UNWTO, Representatives of diplomatic and consular corps in Madrid, Nepali Diaspora, and dignitaries from sports, business, art and media house in Spain.
