The Embassy of Nepal in Spain, in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board, organized a Business-to-Business event named ‘Conectando el Tourismo de Nepal’ at the Westin Palace, Madrid on 22 JAN 2023. The event was organized in conjunction with FITUR 2023 to promote interactions and networking among the tourism business houses in Nepal and Spain.
The program started with the National Anthem of Spain followed by Nepal. After the National Anthem, H.E. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal to Spain, gave her welcome speech in which she highlighted the potentiality of Nepal’s Tourism industry, the latest reforms and initiatives undertaken by the Government, the Embassy’s orientation to send hundred thousand tourists from Spain to Nepal, and it’s collaboration with UNWTO to enhance and promote Nepal’s Tourism. Mr. Harry Hwang, Director of the Regional Department of Asia and Pacific of UNWTO addressed the audience; he talked about the UNWTO’s contribution in promoting Nepal’s Tourism and urged everyone to explore the huge investment potential that Nepal offers. The forum also had addresses from other speakers; Mr. Ramesh Thapa, President of Nepal Association of Tours and Travel Agencies (NATTA), Mr. Sebastian Alvaro Lomba, famous mountaineer from Spain shared their experiences.
Mrs. Nandini Lahe-Thapa, Senior Director of Nepal Tourism Board made a presentation on Nepal’s Tourism along with a promotional video, in which she gave an overall view of opportunities that Travel and Tours agencies could capitalize in Nepal. It was followed with a singing bowl performance from Ms. Jacomina Elisabeth Kistemaker and Mr. Joan Patsini. The program concluded with the presentation of Token of Love to the speakers and other eminent personalities for their contribution in promoting relationship between Nepal and Spain.
The event was attended by around 100 people including officials from UNWTO, famous Spanish mountaineers, Spanish travel and tour operators, and Spanish Media among others.
