Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali held a telephone conversation with Minister for External Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain Her Excellency Ms. Arancha Gonzalez, today.
During the conversation, the two Ministers exchanged views on various matters of mutual interests. Sharing experiences of their national efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19, they expressed their sympathies and solidarity to each other on the loss of life and sufferings caused by the pandemic.
The Ministers, appreciating the cordial relations subsisting between Nepal and Spain since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1968, agreed to continue interactions between the two Foreign Ministries towards further strengthening and widening the scope of bilateral relations and cooperation in the coming days. Minister Mr. Gyawali highlighted the contribution of the economic partnership for reviving economies, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic, and, in this context, invited Spain to explore Nepal’s vast investment potentials.
Matters relating to cooperation at various multilateral platforms were also discussed. The Ministers viewed that multilateralism is even more important in the time of global crises, and that only through concerted efforts the challenge of global proportions could be addressed.
On a final note, the Ministers expressed happiness over the increasing people-to-people contacts, contributed by the presence of vibrant Nepali diaspora in Spain as well as visit by an increasing number of Spanish tourists to Nepal. Minister Mr. Gyawali thanked Spain for protecting the Nepali community during this difficult time.
