His Excellency Shanil Nepal is a young and dynamic diplomat with an eye on international relations, public diplomacy, and policy-making.
H.E. Nepal assumed his responsibilities as Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Spain in January 2025 and also serves as a non-resident ambassador to Malta. Prior to this role, he was appointed as Ambassador to Portugal. Committed to strengthening Nepal’s meaningful presence in Europe, H.E. Nepal has worked tirelessly to extend cordial relations through strategic partnerships, diplomatic engagement, and cultural promotion. His diplomatic acumen has been demonstrated through successful negotiations of agreements, fostering bilateral and multilateral relationships, and ensuring Nepal’s interests are effectively represented on the global stage.
Academically, Ambassador Nepal holds master’s degrees in English Literature and Sociology, both from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, equipping him with a strong foundation in communication, critical thinking, and social policy.
H.E. Nepal made significant contributions to academia, serving as an Academic Director and Lecturer at various institutions in Nepal. Additionally, he led large-scale national projects as a Planning and Development Expert Lead, supported by bilateral and development partners. Beyond diplomacy, H.E. Nepal has played a pivotal role in shaping Nepal’s foreign policy, briefing Members of Parliament on critical international issues, global trends, and national development strategies to ensure informed decision-making. His leadership in Spain is poised to further strengthen Nepal-Europe ties, creating new opportunities for collaboration in trade, culture, and governance for a brighter future for Nepal.
Born on February 2, 1988, in Palpa, Nepal, H.E. Nepal is married to Ms. Pushpa Tiwari and is blessed with a child.
